Faculty and Professional Staff Senate Academic Year Goal Planning 2025/2026

"Sustainable institutional growth must be grounded in shared governance, adequate staffing, and respect for faculty/staff input. The focus should be on quality, equity, and accountability in both leadership and the student experience, not simply expansion without support."

Common Themes within the goal planning and priority setting process in the 2025 Academic Year:

Shared Governance & Real Faculty Voice
Need for meaningful faculty/staff involvement and accountability in leadership decisions.

Staffing, Workload, and Sustainability
Growth in programs is outpacing resources, leading to unsustainable faculty/staff workloads.

Leadership Instability & Reorganization Challenges
Frequent turnover, new deans, program mergers, and unclear roles undermine stability.

Equity, Fairness, and Student Support
Concerns about advising, ADA accessibility, privacy, and student services.

Institutional Culture & Communication
Need for respect, communication, and preservation of institutional memory.

Quality Over Quantity in Student Experience
Calls for quality learning opportunities rather than just increased numbers.
